Pregnancy Massage

If you are pregnant and planning to visit one of the Themal Baths in Budapest, please read the following information before making a purchase or booking a massage, as massage is not offered in the baths during pregnancy.

Unfortunately, most pools contain hot water (between 33 and 40 degrees) which is not recommended for ladies who are expecting a child. As for the massages, there is not any thermal baths in Budapest that offer pregnancy massage. The reason behind this is to prevent any potential medical complications that may happen. Even if you are perfectly healthy and so is your baby, no bath management will take the risk of unexpected complications / urgent resolutions to keep you and your baby safe from harm. We are terribly sorry, but your and your baby’s health come first.

In short, massage treatments are not available for pregnant moms in the Thermal Baths of Budapest, while hot thermal water is not suitable and therefore not recommended for pregnant moms.

During pregnancy please keep consulting with your doctor whenever you intend to visit public baths, shared pools. Pregnant women are kindly asked to consult with their doctor /OBGYN if they can bathe in the thermal waters in Budapest too, and what – if any – precautions they need to make before entering the pools.

All visit to the baths and its facilities are at the responsibility of visitors, including pregnant mothers. We apologise for any potential inconvenience. You will find that some private spas do offer pregnancy treatments in Budapest, even if not the major thermal baths.

  1. Hi,

Can I still access the baths with my partner but don’t get in the water? Or just sit around the edges if pregnant?

    Thanks

    • Hello Michelle,
yes, you can go with your husband. Pregnant women are kindly asked to consult with their doctor / OBGYN if they can bathe in the thermal waters.
Also, there are several pools in the baths which contain hot water (between 33 and 40 degrees Celsius, the upper end of which, is not recommended for pregnant mothers. You might try some cooler pools.
Hope we can welcome you at Szechenyi Spa Baths!
